Chasing the Gold Kennels is located in Montgomery Minnesota, and is owned and operated by Mike and Amy Peterson. We are located on 11 acres, and have access to thousands of acres of excellent training land. This quality land and water allows us to train your dog for any type of hunting situation or competition.

Mike began training his personal dogs in 2004 and started competing with his dogs in 2006. He has titled several personal and client dogs in AKC hunt tests at the Junior, Senior, and Master levels. He has titled several dogs in UKC hunt tests at the Seasoned, and Finished levels. He has also won the Minnesota Retriever Championship and trained several tournament hunting champions. Some of his tournament hunting accomplishments include winning multiple US Open Pheasant Championships, the Minnesota State Pheasant Championship, Iowa State Pheasant Championship, Nebraska Tri-State Partridge Championship, and the Minnesota Partridge Championship. Mike has also won several Midwest Upland Gundog Series events and Championships, and 2 Dog of the Year titles.

Mike hunts both waterfowl and upland birds extensively, and has guided many pheasant hunts. He enjoys training dogs for competition, hunting, obedience, and to be better companions. He is a very active member of the Lake Country Retriever Club, helping at many events and serving on the board.
